The context of this research project focuses on the importance of fashion illustration putting emphasis to introduce this profession in Pakistan for better understanding of fashion and its rules and ways and to become equals to other fashion industries all over the world and to match steps with the international fashion industries.
This project explores the basic definition of fashion illustration and how it came into being especially narrating exactly what is fashion illustration. A small history is also explained to tell what changes fashion illustration went through in different eras and how it finally reaches its current state. Then it goes on to telling about different professional fashion illustrators currently working in international fashion industries. Their styles of illustration are also discussed. After that the details of mediums used to make fashion illustrations are also discussed giving pictorial references to those mediums.
Critical analysis by individual and professionals relating to this field have been included to as to why such an important aspect of fashion industry is totally ignored or given least importance in Pakistan. Research was carried out in the form of questionnaires, formal and semi formal interviews and general opinions.
The help of charts and tables illustrates results of the questionnaires. The results of which show that the experts and observers concede to the existence of such a problem.
In the end suggestions and recommendations are proposed keeping in mind the conclusion that I reached upon.
